History of Resurrection Power
Resurrection Power was born out of the hearts of local pastors who longed to bring spiritual support and encouragement to the 12-Step recovery community in and around Washington, Pennsylvania. United in prayer and action, they stepped forward with a vision to walk alongside men and women in recovery, offering hope, accountability, and the love of Christ.
In January 2001, Resurrection Power became an official ministry. Since then, God has blessed this work with steady growth.
Today, four recovery homes in the City of Washington provide hope to those living in the Southwest Pennsylvania region. And this is only the beginning — with eyes toward the future, Resurrection Power is committed to opening more homes in communities where hope and healing are most needed.
Our Values
At Resurrection Power, our foundation is built on faith in Christ.
Flowing from that faith, we hold a deep conviction that the 12 Steps, as first expressed by Alcoholics Anonymous, were given to us by God—speaking into our culture a biblical and effective map for the journey of restoration. While the 12 Steps do not carry the same authority as Scripture, we believe that, when viewed from a biblical perspective, they become a powerful tool God uses to redeem and restore the hurting, the lost, and the oppressed.
Because of this, our ministry fully embraces the 12 Steps and walks alongside those who use them in their journey of recovery and faith. We are not a substitute or an alternative to 12-Step programs. Instead, we exist to encourage, love, and support people within 12-Step recovery—offering the hope of Christ as they continue forward on the path to freedom from the power of addiction.
Our Mission and Vision
Our vision is to create a Christ-centered residential community in the midst of the city, engaged in the work of recovery from self-destructive behaviors. We will provide a safe, structured and spiritually focused environment for 12 Step recovery that will be a place of refuge for healing, growth, and training, as well as a stronghold for deploying fully functioning servants of Jesus into society.
